documents delivers files: contracts, invoices, policies, reports. On the channels that show it (the web widget, the desktop and dashboard chat, mobile, WhatsApp, Teams, RCS, iMessage, MessageBird, and Slack) the platform teaches the model this block for a file whose link a tool returned or the conversation contains. Elsewhere the model uses it only when your persona or skill context includes the syntax; see Response formatting. The model has no way to create a file: upload it first, for example with CDN, and return the URL from your tool.

Where it renders
The messaging channels read every
::: documents block in a reply. From code, put the block in the text of Channels.send: it renders exactly like a reply, so on Slack the file is uploaded or linked. To attach a file to email sent from your own address, send it from code with Channels.email.send and its attachments field instead of this block.
